Starting with associates who began donating blood back in 1944, the partnership between Nationwide Insurance and the America Red Cross has evolved significantly through the years. As a founding member of the Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program, the Nationwide Insurance Foundation extends the company’s promise to customers by helping communities when disasters strike. Since 2000, the Foundation has awarded the Red Cross $12.9 million to support disaster services and funded several bloodmobiles. In addition, a number of Nationwide leaders lend their time and expertise by serving on chapter boards, and associates continue – 70 years later – to donate blood to help the Red Cross maintain a sufficient blood supply.
