We were an active chapter in Selma, Alabama since 1917. All through the years, we have been available to those in need during and after disaster, for the armed forces in peace and war worldwide; collecting blood for the hospitals throughtout Alabama; teaching first aid and CPR, with swimming classes, HIV education and other safety courses.
We are now a Service Center under the guidance of the Central Alabama Chapter in Montgomery.
Governed by volunteers, our other task is to raise funds to help provide these needed services. Our main source of revenue is the United Way which has since 1954 allocated about 50% of our operating budget each year. The remainder of funds come from volunteer contribution and cost recovery.
