Monday, December 06, 2004
The American Red Cross has often received support from the entertainment community – especially during times of need. Since the start of the beloved Lifetime Television medical drama Strong Medicine, the organization has regularly been included in the show.

From CPR masks or program posters to mentions and a plot involvement emphasizing the need for more regular blood donations to prevent blood shortages during winter months, Strong Medicine has demonstrated its support of Red Cross to its loyal viewers.
The series starring Patricia Richardson and Rosa Blasi once again lent a hand to the nation’s premier humanitarian organization through an inclusion on the October 24th episode titled “A Dose of Reality.” In the episode, Peter Riggs, RN, played by Josh Coxx, appears wearing a vintage-style Red Cross T-shirt. The shirt is currently a product offered in the organization’s online store that launched nationwide on September 7th. When presented with the chance to wear the shirt on the show, Mr. Coxx was glad to show his support of Red Cross through his character.
“It’s actually a great shirt,” Coxx said. “Can I get one for myself?” And the Red Cross has since furnished him with one his very own.
The Red Cross is fortunate to have the support of quality shows like Strong Medicine. Through efforts like this one and those in past episodes, the American public is reminded of the organization’s constant work in communities nationwide. Every eight minutes the Red Cross is responding to a disaster – most which do not make the evening news, but are devastating to the lives they touch. Currently, the organization is working to raise funds to cover costs from response efforts following four hurricanes on the east coast in six weeks. Purchases from Red Cross’ online store of the vintage T-shirt and other helpful products support the ongoing work of the Red Cross.
