The American Red Cross San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter first emerged in 1898 as the result of assistance efforts during the Spanish-American War. Through the generosity of this community, the Red Cross has provided help and hope ever since.

The 1898 Society is a dynamic network of community leaders
who are dedicated to the mission, vision and values of the American Red Cross.

People who want to make a real difference
– anyone with a strong commitment to community service, leadership and philanthropy –
is welcomed to the 1898 Society
with a single or cumulative annual gift of $1,000 or more.
