Medical Administration
The Medical Administration Department provides medical guidance regarding policies and procedures, assesses donor eligibility and donor safety, protects quality and safety of the blood supply, oversees notification of deferred donors based on donor history screening or laboratory testing, provides medical consultation for regional donors, patients and physicians; investigates suspected post-transfusion infectious disease cases; investigates lookback cases; manages serious adverse reactions by donors and recipients; oversees the bone marrow program (donor center of National Marrow Donor Program); assesses post-donation information; provides continuing medical education of physicians/technologists/technicians; provides teaching for transfusion medicine fellows; participates and organizes Medical/Technical Advisory Committee, and research in transfusion medicine/blood banking.
