Research
at American Red Cross Blood Services, Southern California Region
(ARCBSSCR) examines immunologic destruction of red blood cells
and platelets. The research programs are led by George Garratty,
PhD, FRCPath, scientific director, and are conducted jointly with
other blood centers, the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute,
and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. |

Region has continued to play a key role in the Retrovirus Epidemiology
Study (REDS), a National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute contracted
collaborative study. |
