The Fort Carson Red Cross is seeking volunteer Public Speakers

*******Local News Flash******

Ursula Ramos, a 21 year veteran of the American Red Cross, was selected to be an Olympic torch bearer.  Ursula completed her 1/5 mile journey with the torch on Friday, 01 Feb 2002.  Ursula carried the torch from the "Garden of the Gods ¼ mi." sign on 30th St. to the pullout on the left immediately before the entrance to the Garden.

We congratulate Ursula on her lifetime accomplishments and devotion to supporting Fort Carson's soldiers through her volunteer efforts with the American Red Cross and Local Chapel Communities.

Who We Are . .

The American Red Cross is uniquely equipped to provide an exclusive worldwide communications and support network that serves as a lifeline between military service members and their families. For the American soldier and his or her family, the Red Cross is the connection to home, relaying urgent information -- a family crisis, a death in the family, a financial emergency, or a joyous birth. Our Fact Sheet provides a glimpse into some ways the Red Cross provides a " shoulder to lean on" for U.S. military families every day - 24 hours a day - around the world.

Our Commitment . . .

The American Red Cross is implementing a sweeping modernization for its Armed Forces Services (AFS) utilizing the latest technology to improve and consolidate emergency communications and case management activities for service members. More local, trained volunteers or chapter staff rather than national sector staff will provide services to service members.

Donate to the American Red Cross...

Blood donations, in the state of Colorado, are handled by the local hospital systems.  The Blood Bank at Memorial Hospital may be reached at 365-5411; the Blood Bank at Penrose Hospital may be reached at 776-5822.  Please call them to schedule an appointment.  The Red Cross in no way endorses one Blood Bank over another and there may be one in your local area that you prefer.

For Donations to the American Red Cross log onto www.redcross.org or call 1-800-HELP NOW or 1-800-257-7575 (Spanish).  Complete information on the donation process can be read at the American Red Cross web site located at http://www.redcross.org/donate/donate.html
