Description
Through the continued generous support of The Allstate Foundation, the American Red Cross Masters of Disaster® natural hazards curriculum activities have been translated into Spanish and are now available for downloading.
The design of the Masters of Disaster® curriculum encourages teachers and students to share safety information with other family members. The complementary Spanish and English activity sheets will help educators help students who speak Spanish and English to share important life-saving preparedness information with their families at home, where Spanish may be the only language spoken. Because educators and schools have limited resources, these materials can be downloaded at no cost with the option of downloading an activity of your choice in English, Spanish, or both to optimize use in the classroom and in reaching entire families.
The Red Cross worked with MAGA Creative Services to translate the activities into Spanish, as well as format them for downloading electronically. These activities have also undergone field review by Spanish speaking Red Cross staff with expertise in the field of disaster preparedness and education. These reviewers were from areas across the country (Texas, Florida, New York and Chicago, Illinois) to ensure technical accuracy, clarity, and understanding for multiple ways Latin-American Spanish is used in the United States.
The Masters of Disaster® Lesson Plans, Activities, video, and accompanying posters, certificates, and stickers are available in print form in English for ordering through your local Red Cross chapter. Click here to use the locator, enter your zip code and find the chapter that serves your community.
