Edison International, through its subsidiaries, is a generator and distributor of electric power and an investor in energy services and technologies, including renewable energy. Headquartered in Rosemead, Calif., Edison International is the parent company of Southern California Edison, one of the nation’s largest electric utilities.
Safety is its highest priority and a constant in everything Edison does. Edison International recognizes that if a large-scale natural disaster hits Southern California, residents will turn to the American Red Cross. For that reason in 2012, Edison joined forces with the American Red Cross and committed $1.5 million to launch PrepareSoCal, a three-year emergency preparedness campaign.
To support Superstorm Sandy relief efforts, a team of five Ready When the Time Comes employee volunteers trained by the American Red Cross flew to New York to help provide temporary shelter and meals to displaced families. In addition, Edison International employees donated $40,000 to the American Red Cross, and the company added to the grant for a total of $65,000 for disaster relief.
