Congratulations 2007 Youth INVOLVEment Strategic Investment Grant Recipients

The Office of the National Chair of Volunteers would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the recipients of the 2007 Youth INVOLVEment Strategic Investment Grant.

In the early fall of 2006, the Office of the National Chair of Volunteers, Youth and Young Adult Programs and Services, awarded 26 grants to Red Cross units from all over the country.

Each unit will use the $1,000 grant to start, rebuild and maintain new or current youth programs that promote both the involvement and integration of youth and young adult volunteers fulfilling the Red Cross mission and strategic plan.

The Volunteer Administration Institute 2007 was one of the milestones in the grant recipients’ work calendars. VAI provided recipients with an opportunity to share ideas and best practices, and to network with other youth coordinators, volunteers and paid staff.

Grant recipients tackled numerous themes, including strengthening youth leadership, providing training on youth-related areas of interest, supporting Red Cross clubs and helping communities to be better prepared when disaster strikes.

The grant recipients created posters that were displayed at VAI. These posters presented key program activities and outputs as well as brought color, life and vivid discussions in the conference exhibit areas and in some of the conference sessions.

It was proven once again that by involving youth and young adults, valuing their hard work, enthusiasm and dedication and providing them with the needed tools and resources, these young volunteers will make a difference in Red Cross units and in their communities. When bold ideas are reinforced by passionate and knowledgeable paid staff and volunteers, all the key ingredients are present for a remarkable program.
