Kate Forbes, National Chair of Volunteers
The following message is from Kate Forbes, National Chair of Volunteers:

You have heard me say that I have an obligation to see that the mission of the Red Cross is handed off to the next generation. To meet the demands of our expanding youth and young adult programs and services, the Office of the National Chair of Volunteers has partnered with the Service Area Youth Liaisons and the National Youth Council to provide two National Youth Institutes.

The first Institute, open to youth, young adults and program coordinators from Service Areas 1, 2, 3 and 4, will be held May 4-6 in Portland, Oregon, at the Red Lion Hotel on the River. The second Institute will be held May 18-20 at the Desmond Hotel and Conference Center in Albany, New York, and is recommended for youth, young adults and program coordinators from Service Areas 5, 6, 7 and 8.

The cost to attend either Institute is $50, which includes meals and lodging. Online registration and a complete listing of workshops and events will be available through the National Youth Institute Web site in the coming weeks.

These National Youth Institutes will allow youth and young adults to participate in highly interactive, facilitator-led trainings. The National Youth Institute will provide practical ways for participants to apply what they learn during training sessions in their Service Areas and chapters.

For additional information or support, contact Darren Foster, Manager, Youth and Young Adult Programs and Services, Office of the National Chair of Volunteers, at (202) 303-8442; FosterDa@usa.redcross.org.
