Employee Engagement Ideas
  • If you have a customizable Red Cross online employee donation site (a microsite), use it to encourage, collect (and match!) employee donations made on Giving Day. Red Cross microsites with Disaster Relief, Where It’s Needed Most, Local Chapter and Home Fire Relief designations will “switch over” to a Giving Day banner image and headline from April 17 – April 28. You may promote the microsite as is, or customize your welcome message using examples below.
  • If you don’t have a Red Cross microsite, contact your Red Cross relationship manager to set one up. Our co-brandable microsites allow you to easily collect and track donations made by your employees.
  • Offer employees who give a special benefit, such as wearing jeans or bringing his/her pet to work for a day.
  • Leverage internal champions to share their Red Cross stories with other colleagues on your company’s intranet.
  • Hold a Red Cross luncheon or meeting on Giving Day to raise awareness and discuss the services your local Red Cross chapter provides every day.
  • Feature Red Cross Giving Day in your internal and external communications. (sample message is below)
  • Post Giving Day flyers in break rooms, copy rooms, or other high-traffic areas.
  • Encourage employees to become a social ambassador for Giving Day. Employees can sign up at redcross.org/GivingDay.
