In preparation for the 2006 hurricane season, American Red Cross Senior Vice President of Preparedness and Response Joe Becker traveled to Capitol Hill on June 15 and 16 to meet with Congressional staff.
Becker described American Red Cross past hurricane responses and the changes we have made as an organization in order to prepare for the 2006 season.
More than 150 staff members from the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate attended the Hurricane Briefings to listen to Becker speak about the challenges the Red Cross faced during last hurricane season and what to expect from our organization in the future.
Hill staffers were able to ask questions and speak to Becker and the Red Cross Government Relations team immediately following the briefing.
The material distributed to Hill staff is linked below, or hard copies can be ordered through the local Red Cross chapters in your state.
