Seven times a day in the United States, someone dies in a home fire. You can help decrease this number by volunteering for one of our smoke alarm installations and Home Fire Safety Education Events! Please scroll down to see specific dates and times.

Partnership Coalition: The Red Cross and our partners will achieve the goals of this campaign by establishing volunteer partnership coalitions in our communities, bringing together local fire departments, houses of worship, businesses, schools, after-school groups, public health departments, social service agencies, including neighborhood leaders, elected officials and other volunteers.

Age Requirements: You must be 16 years or older in order to participate. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a present and must have a media release form completed. Child care is not available on the premises.

All participant volunteers must register prior to the event. No Walk-In volunteering is available.

Volunteer Roles: Volunteers will work in teams in the following roles:
  • Smoke Alarm Installation
  • Home Fire Safety Education
  • Documentation
*Your specific role will be identified by email prior to the event.*

Please remember to wear comfortable clothing, comfortable shoes, weather appropriate items (hat, raincoat, sunscreen...)

Please note: Additional updates, including short video training and the address of the staging areas, will be sent to volunteers via email prior to the event.
