Fundamentals of Canoeing (CDLAQU104)

Class Fees: $75

Prerequisites: Must be at least 11 years old and accompanied by a parent or guardian if under age 18. All participants must be able to swim or tread water for three minutes.

Description:
Learn basic strokes and skills used to paddle a canoe safely on a lake, along with methods for rescuing yourself and others. The class begins with a Friday evening session that is held at a local swimming pool. This session will familiarize you with the equipment and safety rules, and includes an introduction to rescue skills.

The Saturday and Sunday sessions are taught on Lake Natoma and run from 9:00am – 4:00pm each day. On Saturday, you will be introduced to and practice the basic strokes needed to paddle a canoe safely and efficiently. On Sunday, additional maneuvers and strokes will be introduced along with longer distance paddles to help further refine your skills.
