Nominate a Hometown Hero

Do you know a hero who has made a difference in your community?

Each year, the American Red Cross honors community members who have demonstrated heroism through extraordinary acts of courage and humanitarian service.

Who should be considered?
  • The hero must live, work, go to school in, or the event must have happened occurred in the Long Beach, Rio Hondo, or South Bay area.
  • The heroic act must have occurred outside of the normal course and scope of the hero’s usual and customary work.
  • The heroic event must be a single incident and not part of a disaster or catastrophic event response.
Examples of heroic acts are performing CPR or First Aid, rescuing someone from drowning, performing a water rescue, providing outstanding humanitarian service for Veterans or the Armed Forces, and helping prepare the community for disaster.
