March Is Red Cross Month
“I request that during that month (March) our people rededicate themselves to the splendid aims and activities of the Red Cross.”
- President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Proclaiming March as Red Cross Month, in 1943.
Every eight minutes, the American Red Cross brings help and hope to people in need. Whether you donate funds, donate blood, take a class or volunteer, we depend on your support to make a difference in communities across the country. Every Red Crosser is a real-life hero!
Each year since 1943, the President of the United States proclaims March is "Red Cross Month.” We use this month as a chance to honor and celebrate the hard work our volunteers, blood donors and financial donors do throughout the year— the everyday heroes who help us fulfill our mission.
This March, we encourage you to uncover your inner hero, by choosing one or more of the options below and joining us for our 65th annual Red Cross Month!
Red Cross Month in the Los Angeles Area

This March, when you engage in Red Cross activities in your city, be sure to tag yourself on social media with #RedCrossMonth to show the world how you’re making a difference in the lives of families and communities in need.
March 28th is Giving Day
Once a year, Giving Day brings communities together to help families who have been impacted by a home fire or other disaster. Together we provide urgently needed Red Cross services to help them get back on their feet.
You can unite with thousands of people across the country by donating to the Red Cross on March 28th – or any day before.
In honor of this momentous occasion, local landmarks across the Los Angeles area will light up red in honor of Red Cross on the evening of Wednesday, March 28th. Keep your eyes on the pylons at LAX and the Ferris Wheel on the Santa Monica Pier, and perhaps a few more landmarks near you!
