For 100 years, the American Red Cross has supported families in the St. Louis area through disasters. To celebrate the Red Cross of Greater St. Louis centennial and to engage the community in the Red Cross mission, we are proud to announce the St. Louis Red Cross Centennial Poster Art Competition. This competition builds on 100 years of iconic Red Cross poster art.
Every day Red Cross volunteers in St. Louis work to prevent injury and loss of life. From home fires to regional floods and tornadoes, volunteers respond to disasters, bringing real help and hope to those affected.
Art Submission Guidelines
Submissions: Acrylic, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Drawing/Illustration, Mixed Media, Oil, Pastel, Photography, Watercolor – Arts Organization.
The centennial poster design should celebrate our history and motivate the public to join the Red Cross mission by volunteering, donating or giving blood.
Original designs in any medium, including photographs, qualify.
Launch date for the contest is February 1, 2017; submission deadline is May 1, 2017.
Submit high resolution electronic images via online form. Finalists artwork will be professionally scanned for reproduction purposes.
Final art will be reproduced on 16” x 23” sized poster. In addition, winning artwork will be reproduced in other formats possibly including bus shelter, Metro windscreens, and billboards.
Each design may contain the Red Cross. If you choose to use the Red Cross, please keep the following guidelines in mind: the cross must be red, there should be no images or typography inside of the cross, keep a clear space of 2x the size of the cross around the cross, the cross must be used as a symbol and not as an object such as a plus sign or a bullet point.
Entries will be judged by a volunteer team of art professionals. A small footer containing the St. Louis Red Cross Centennial logo with tagline Any time. Any place. Any one. For 100 years will be added to the winning poster.
All submissions become property of the American Red Cross of Greater St. Louis. Winning entries will become part of our Red Cross centennial fundraising and receive significant exposure throughout the community during our centennial year.
