National Preparedness & Response Corps

The American Red Cross has established an AmeriCorps program called the National Preparedness & Response Corps (NPRC). Its mission is to provide vital emergency assistance to communities affected by disasters and increase preparedness through community outreach and education.

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter has supported an NPRC site in Philadelphia for 14 years. NPRC members provide age-appropriate and culturally diverse Community Disaster Education presentations in high-risk areas in Philadelphia.

When needed, NPRC members also respond to national disaster assignments as part of the American Red Cross DSHR system.

The NPRC members participate in monthly service projects and member development activities to increase their knowledge about themselves, their abilities, and the communities around them.
