Youth Preparedness Training

Fire Safety: 30 minute presentation • Tailored to be age appropriate • Students learn about fire prevention and preparedness, including what fires are and why they happen, what to do in care of a fire, and how to develop an home fire escape plan.

Disaster Preparedness: 30—60 minute presentations • Tailored to be age appropriate • Hazards offered include tornados, earthquakes, storms, lightening, floods, or general preparedness • Students learn the science behind the hazard, what they can do to be prepared, and how to respond to stay safe

First Aid: 30—90 minute presentations • Tailored to be age appropriate • Topics include: how to recognize and respond to an emergency, choking, poison, and treating basic injuries

The Pillowcase Project: 60 minute presentations • Ages 3– 8 • Teaches children about personal and family preparedness, local hazards and basic coping skills using a learn, practice and share format.

Seasonal Safety: 30 minute presentations • Ages 3– 8 • Teaches children how to be safe in summer or winter weather and how to recognize and respond to emergencies
