Who We Are
The American Red Cross Central and Southern Illinois Region includes 3 chapters serving 78 counties and almost 3 million people. Every day our dedicated volunteers and staff work to fulfill the American Red Cross mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies. Whether it is responding to a home fire in the middle of the night or educating our communities on disaster preparedness, the Red Cross of Central and Southern Illinois is ready to help.

What We Do
Red Cross services are made possible by the generous contributions of our supporters, and more than 1,800 volunteers that help make a difference in the communities we serve. Services include:

  • Disaster response for victims of home fires, floods, tornadoes and other natural or man-made disasters.
  • Community preparedness education for youth, adults, families and organizations.
  • Services to members of the armed forces and their families including emergency communications.
  • Workplace preparedness and training
  • Disaster support, when needed, to other regions around the country
Our Region:
  • Responds to more than 700 local disasters a year, most of which were home fires
  • Reaches more than 40,000 youth and adults with preparedness training each year
  • Provides services to more than 800 military members and their families on average each year
  • Engages over 1,800 youth and adult volunteers, who collectively in 2015 donated over 75,000 volunteer hours to help deliver the Red Cross mission
