On April 28, 2016 the American Red Cross of Chicago and Northern Illinois honored the 2016 Class of Heroes at the 14th Annual Heroes Breakfast. From helping those in need right here in Chicago, to saving lives in Syria, the 15 heroes that were honored are a true representation of the impact all of us can have on the world.
Thanks to your generosity and our event sponsors, the 2016 Heroes Breakfast was the most successful Heroes Breakfast yet. This success allows the Red Cross to fulfill lifesaving services, such as our efforts through the National Home Fire Program, which aims to reduce the number of fire injuries and deaths by 25 percent over the next five years.
The contributions raised at the event alone could provide all of the following:
• 25,000 children with vaccinations for measles and rubella
• 20,000 military members in hospitals with basic necessities like soap, shampoo and toothpaste
• 6,000 children with water safety skills through swimming lessons
• 1,500 families impacted by a home fire with financial assistance
