Our corporate volunteer program, Ready When the Time Comes (RWTC), is designed to tap into corporate America’s expertise and desire to help people in need. The American Red Cross trains employees from partnering corporations and mobilizes them as a community-based volunteer force when disaster strikes.
We’re working with corporations around the country to establish partnerships and train thousands of Ready When the Times Comes volunteers.
In 2011, the program marked its tenth anniversary. It currently features 14,000 trained volunteers from more than 460 businesses and organizations in 54 cities. The program has been established in all critical disaster zones across the country.
RWTC volunteer teams from a range of companies were part of the Red Cross response to disasters in 2011, such as the deadly tornadoes that wreaked havoc in the South and Midwest, record-setting flooding along the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers, and Hurricane Irene’s damaging storms from North Carolina to New England.
Building on its commitment to the American Red Cross, W.W. Grainger, Inc. proudly serves as the national founding sponsor of the Ready When the Time Comes program. This partnership was the recipient of the 2011 U.S. Chamber of Commerce Business Civic Leadership Center (BCLC) Best Partnership Award.
Companies participating in RWTC enjoy the following benefits:
- An efficient turn-key way to involve your company and your employees in responding to critical local needs
- Multiple and varied ways for people to be engaged in the community
- Opportunity for employees to learn new knowledge and skills
- Visible alignment with one of the most respected organizations in the country
