TRANSPORTATION: The Red Cross will provide complimentary one-way transportation to the Expo for all Team Red Cross runners and their families after the Runner & Family Brunch on Saturday, October 8 at approximately 12:30 p.m.
We highly recommend using this complimentary Red Cross transportation to the Expo, or taking public transportation there. Parking is extremely difficult in that area. There are also shuttle services available. Please see information below on shuttles.
Free Shuttle Bus Service
Free shuttle bus service to the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo will be provided to and from the following four locations:
Shuttles will operate every 15 – 20 minutes between 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Friday, October 7, and 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 8. The final pick-up time from the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo will be at 8:30 p.m. on Friday and 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

PACKET PICK-UP: The marathon packet pick-up is located at the Expo. All packets and bags must be picked up at the Health & Fitness Expo during regular hours (9 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Friday; 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday). Packets and bags are not available for pick up the day of the event and will not be mailed to participants.
Participants must present their packet pick-up ticket or email along with a photo ID in order to receive their participant packet and participant bag.
All runners must pick up their own participant packet (which includes your event-issued bib number and timing device) at the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo. Individuals will not be able to pick up participant packets on behalf of others. The Red Cross cannot pick up your packet for you.
EXHIBITS: The Expo will also feature more than 200 exhibitors featuring the newest in running apparel, footwear and accessories. There will also be presentations at the Runner’s World Stage throughout the weekend. You can find a schedule of presentations here.

Parking: Complimentary parking is available in the Red Cross lot located on the northeast corner of Harrison & Leavitt. The entrance to this lot is on Harrison Street. Transportation: The closest El subway station is the blue line stop located at Illinois Medical District. The American Red Cross is approximately an eight (8) minute walk from the stop.
When the Brunch concludes at approximately 12:30 p.m., the Red Cross will provide complimentary one-way transportation for runners and their guests to the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo to pick up your race packet.
A schedule for the morning is listed below:
10:30 – 11:00 a.m.: Registration & tours of the American Red Cross
11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.: Brunch & Presentation
12:00 – 12:30 p.m.: Mingle with other Runners
12:30 p.m.: Depart for the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo at McCormick Place
All runners are invited to bring up to two (2) guests to the brunch. If you need additional spaces, please email Stephanie.Patton@redcross.org and we will try our best to accommodate your needs if some runners don’t use their guest spots.
Activities available at the Runner Brunch include:
- Come behind the scenes at the Red Cross to learn firsthand how your fundraising dollars are being put to work every day to support the community.
- Tour our Emergency Operations Center and Blood Services Center
- Interact with Red Cross staff
- Team Red Cross team photo opportunity
- Receive final coaching advice from professional running coach Mark Buciak
- Receive detailed information on the resources available to you and your family in Charity Village on race day
- Pick-up your Charity Village wristbands for your supporters (this is the only way for a spectator to have access to the finish line and meet you in Charity Village after the race)
- Poster making materials will be available for spectators
- Prizes will be awarded to individual runners in categories such as:
- Top Fundraisers
- Alumni runner who has run the most with Team Red Cross
- Individuals traveling the furthest
- Carpool to the Expo after brunch to pick up your race packet
We request that you please RSVP to the Brunch whether you are planning on attending or not. This will help us determine if we have extra spaces available.
Come join the Red Cross tent in Charity Village before and after the race for all of your race needs including:
- Red Cross gear check (so you can avoid the regular Marathon gear check with 50,000 other runners)
- Runner Supplies (Band-Aids, goo, Vaseline, etc.)
- Massage Therapy after the race
- Food and Beverages
- Moral Support
- And More!
Charity Village Wristbands
All Team Red Cross runners will receive two wristbands for their friends and family to enter Charity Village on race day. This is the ONLY spot where friends and family can get access to the finish line to see you finish the race. It is also a great location to meet up with your friends and family after the race to avoid the crowds.
Runners must pick up their Charity Village wristbands at the Runner & Family Brunch on Saturday, October 8.
