Dave Farris has been volunteering for the Red Cross for over four years, and has been a huge help with office administration, as well as volunteer recruitment. Most recently, he’s been instrumental with switching office space in Salisbury, Maryland, donating approximately 150-200 hours of his time on this project. He made the move seamless. Some of his duties included requesting quotes from movers to find a company that best fit our needs and coordination of dates, times, and payment arrangements with the movers. He made several trips to the Elkton office to help with pictures, measurements, and then finally meeting the movers there to make sure the correct furniture was moved to the new office.
Dave also worked with them to make sure everything was set up in the new Salisbury office to our expectations. He helped arrange the furniture in both the Volunteer and Disaster Cycle Services offices to make the most efficient work spaces. He cleaned out the attic and utility rooms at the old Salisbury office, a task requiring dozens of hours alone. Once the move was complete, Dave coordinated with local non-profits to remove items that were no longer needed from the old office saving the Red Cross money on disposal fees. He called the current vendors to cancel contracts for the old space and set up new contracts at the new space. This entire project was a huge undertaking after 27+ years of accumulation and we can’t thank Dave enough for his help and continued support!
