Carolyn Bonner will celebrate her 5th year of service as a Red Cross Volunteer in March, 2016. Volunteering roughly 25-30 hours per week, she supports our mission by serving in a number of roles including Disaster Responder, Community Preparedness Educator, Administrative Support, and Disaster Casework Manager.
Carolyn is flexible and willing to help out wherever she is needed. In October 2015, she noticed a void left on our Casework team with the departure of a near full-time volunteer. Carolyn stepped up and quickly became one of our busiest caseworkers! As a retired Nurse Case Manager, she has truly found her niche in Disaster Case Management and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team. Carolyn compassionately helps her clients develop and realize their recovery goals, frequently checking with them to ensure their progress and that they have completed their “assignments.” Since she started in Case Management, she has guided more than 90 families through the recovery process! She is always seeking out new resources and ways to improve our service to clients. She recently helped train a new Casework team member. She diligently supports the complete Cycle of Disaster Services – Preparedness, Response and Recovery and we are proud to have her as such an important part of the team!
