Margaret DiGiorgio has been representing the American Red Cross as our Volunteer Lead at Annapolis Naval Academy’s Medical Treatment Facility for approximately one year. She has done a great job building the Red Cross presence on this military base, as well as establishing new relationships with local partners. Margaret manages a team of other Red Cross volunteers who help with anything from greeting customers and patients to acting as a nurse or a phlebotomist. She is the “face of the Red Cross” at this location. Margaret also helps staff and recruit others to volunteer at high profile events that focus on the military and veteran communities.
In recent months, Margaret has been a key player in expanding the scope of Red Cross at the Naval Academy’s Clinic by helping with the set-up of the Patient Family Advisory Council which represents all patients receiving care within the Naval Health Clinic Annapolis Network. She has done an amazing job working with key military staff from the clinic as the Red Cross Representative to help with the establishment of the council.
Margaret’s initiative and teamwork came during a time when the “Service to Armed Forces” department needed it most. With one employee deployed to Louisiana’s floods in August 2016, and a heavy workload in the office, Margaret was willing to step outside of her normal duties to help make sure our services and support were effectively delivered. We thank you, Margaret, for all you do!
