March 2018 - Carmel Finnerty

Carmel Finnerty

After volunteering years ago to assist with relief efforts from Hurricane Katrina, Carmel Finnerty joined the American Red Cross in December of 2016, and in just 15 months has given over 1,000 hours of her time to our Services to Military and Veteran Communities. Did you know the Red Cross is contracted by Congress to deliver emergency communications overseas to those serving our country? Carmel is one of many volunteers who play a vital role in this process. Her primary duty involves entering hundreds of families’ data into a database to assure that Red Cross can support them and their service member in time of need. She is consistent and reliable in this important task.

Recently, she has taken on a leadership role as the Red Cross Leader at the Loch Raven and Greene Street Veteran Medical Centers, in which she is fostering relationships with V.A. staff, building a volunteer base, and overall supporting veteran programs at these locations. Carmel is inspiring, selfless, and has a sense of humor that could make anyone smile. We are blessed to have her as a member of the team. Thank you, Carmel, for all you do!
