Mike Kepler began his journey with the American Red Cross in May 2013, and in that time, he has been a true hero to the clients of the Greater Chesapeake Region. In three short years, he has dedicated over 1,300 worked hours, and nearly 5,000 oncall hours, serving in various roles with both Disaster Cycle Services and our Communications Department. Most recently, in the month of August, Mike has acted as our region’s Public Information Officer (PIO), which was no small feat considering disasters such as the Ellicott City flood which garnered much media attention. This work comes just after Mike deployed to Texas to assist with those devastating floods, acting as the Assistant Director for Information and Planning in which he was responsible for daily reports. If that’s not enough, he has simultaneously been responding to clients’ needs after events such as home fires. Mike is a true humanitarian, and not only are our clients lucky to have him on their sid e, but his colleagues are blessed to know him and work alongside him. Thank you, Mike, for all you do!
