Red Cross Clubs

American Red Cross school clubs are school-based service groups that help the Red Cross fulfill its humanitarian mission. Working closely with the chapter, club members participate in Red Cross service projects that impact their community and the world. They offer student members many opportunities for self-development and the ability to choose activities that will address the community’s greatest needs.

Red Cross clubs are a team effort where our chapter, the school, and the students all work together. They enable youth and young adults to make their community and the world a better place while providing an opportunity for young people to develop leadership skills. Massachusetts started the first Red Cross College Club in the country at Harvard University. In 2001, Boston Latin Academy became the first high school to form an official Massachusetts High School Red Cross Club. For high schools that are not ready to support a Red Cross School Club structure, we have Red Cross Youth Ambassadors, who help to serve as liaisons between the school communities and the Red Cross to promote community service and the Red Cross mission. Schools with Red Cross Youth Ambassadors are Pope John XXIII High School in Everett, Somerville High School, Boston Collegiate Charter School, and Notre Dame Academy.

If you are interested or have questions about starting a Red Cross Club at your school, please contact Massachusetts Youth Programs by email to Shawna Dias, Youth Programs Manager, at or at (617) 799-3334.
