Military Family Services

The American Red Cross relies on the volunteer spirit and financial generosity of the American people to support America’s military families. Today, as always, the men and women of the Red Cross continue to show our appreciation for the dedicated service and patriotic sacrifices of America’s military men and women and their families by being there to support them wherever they are and whenever they need us.

Linking Military Families During an Emergency
Red Cross workers use advanced communications technologies to link service members with their families. Our Emergency Communications Center quickly and efficiently obtains the required information and sends emergency communication messages to service members of every branch of service all over the world. The Red Cross Emergency Communications Center is available to help 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Call 877-272-7337 or contact your local Red Cross.

Supporting Wounded Warriors and Military Hospitals
Through partnerships with the Departments of Defense and Veterans’ Affairs, the Red Cross provides transition and reintegration support to wounded warriors, veterans and to their families.

Services for Veterans

American Red Cross services for veterans date back to World War I and remain consistent with the mission of its congressional charter. Today, the Red Cross is proud to maintain its commitment to the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Referrals to Community Resources
The Red Cross offers confidential services to all military veterans and their families by connecting them with Red Cross national, state and local resources through our network of chapters in communities across the United States and offices on military installations worldwide.

Local Red Cross offices develop and maintain relationships with key community partners. Veterans and their families rely on the Red Cross to help them identify their needs and connect them to the most appropriate Red Cross and other resources. This key Red Cross service ranges from responding to emergency needs for food, clothing and shelter, referrals to counseling services (e.g., financial, legal, jobs, mental health), information on veterans cemeteries and burial benefits, and other resources that meet the unique needs of local veterans and their families.

How to Contact the Red Cross for Assistance and Volunteer Opportunities For information and assistance, veterans and their families should contact their local Red Cross office.
