Nearly 12 New Yorkers are displaced by disaster every day in Greater New York––the Red Cross is always there 24-hours a day, 365 days a year to provide emergency and recovery relief.
Helping New Yorkers prepare for and respond to emergencies is vital to the core mission of the American Red Cross. Each year, the Greater New York region trains as many as 600,000 New Yorkers to prepare for emergencies, prevent injuries and respond effectively when emergencies strike. Classes include: CPR/AED Training (Adult, Child, Infant), First Aid, Aquatics and Caregiving.
Emergencies can strike quickly, without warning, and at any time. Year after year, the American Red Cross in Greater New York provides more than 45,000 New Yorkers with emergency preparedness information and training through community outreach programs and special presentations.

The American Red Cross in Greater New York Red Cross proudly carries on Clara Barton's tradition through the Services to the Armed Forces program, which serves as a critical line of communication between the U.S. military and their families. We also provide family counseling, social service referrals and may provide financial assistance in emergencies.
The American Red Cross in Greater New York, in partnership with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, offers worldwide tracing services for family members whose lines of communication have been broken as a result of armed conflict, natural disaster or vulnerabilities such as age or ill health.
