Training Course Options

The American Red Cross in Greater New York provides the training you need to meet OSHA First Aid Standards. Red Cross programs offer the latest scientific methods for delivering first aid, CPR and emergency cardiovascular care. Our courses feature a wealth of educational innovations designed to enhance the learning experience of your employees. With comprehensive, flexible programs, Red Cross training helps employees stay prepared for virtually any life-threatening situation. You can schedule training on site or at the Greater New York chapter, or send employees to “train-the-trainer” courses that prepare them to train the rest of your staff.

Select from the following course content to create the optimal training program for your business or organization. Training fits conveniently into a standard workday and combines lecture, interactive video demonstrations and hands-on training to qualify participants in lifesaving skills.

Standard First Aid: Participants learn first-aid skills for treating a variety of injuries such as burns, wounds, head, neck and back injuries, and heat- and cold-related emergencies. They also learn how to recognize and respond to sudden illnesses including stroke, seizure, bites and poisoning.

CPR/AED – Adult: Participants learn how to perform CPR and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies occurring in adults.

CPR/AED – Child and Infant: Participants learn how to prevent, recognize and provide basic care for breathing and cardiac emergencies occurring in infants and children under the age of 12.

Bloodborne Pathogens - Preventing Disease Transmission: Participants gain an understanding of how bloodborne pathogens are spread and how to comply with the bloodborne-pathogens regulation issued by OSHA. The course trains individuals in how to prevent "exposure incidents" by following appropriate workplace practices designed to control pathogen exposure, using engineering controls and personal protective equipment. Individuals will learn how to clean and disinfect equipment and supplies and how to recognize, report and follow up on employee exposures to infectious materials. This is an ideal course for members of corporate medical emergency response teams, fire marshals and floor wardens.

Epinephrine Autoinjector: Participants learn about breathing emergencies and how and when to use an epinephrine autoinjector. This is an ideal course for members of corporate medical emergency response teams, fire marshals and floor wardens.

Administering Emergency Oxygen: Participants acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to provide effective care to the victim of a breathing emergency that requires the use of breathing devices that may include resuscitation masks, bag-valve-mask resuscitators and emergency oxygen. This is an ideal course for members of corporate medical emergency response teams, fire marshals and floor wardens.

Asthma Inhaler: Participants gain knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide care to a person experiencing an asthma attack that requires the use of a bronchodilator. This is an ideal course for members of corporate medical emergency response teams, fire marshals and floor wardens.
