Salute to Service will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C. from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The celebration is the largest fundraising event of the year for the American Red Cross in the National Capital Region. Funds raised are transformed into services delivered every day in our community. Hundreds of military, government, corporate and community leaders join together for an inspirational evening that supports the programs of the American Red Cross in the National Capital Region.

John Michael McHugh is the 21st United States Secretary of the Army and a former representative from New York, who represented the state's 23rd congressional district in the United States House of Representatives. As Secretary of the Army, he has statutory responsibility for all matters relating to the United States Army: manpower, personnel, reserve affairs, installations, environmental issues, weapons systems and equipment acquisition, communications, and financial management.
Dr. Charlene Drew Jarvis has a long storied history with the American Red Cross. Her father, Dr. Charles Drew, a surgeon and researcher, gave the medical world some of its basic knowledge about blood storage and plasma, still in use today at the American Red Cross. Dr. Jarvis served as president of Southeastern University and was elected six times to the Council of the District of Columbia. Dr. Jarvis has been a leadership volunteer with the American Red Cross and even served as auctioneer at the Salute to Service!
Lieutenant General Patricia D. Horoho assumed command of the U.S. Army Medical Command on December 5, 2011 and was later sworn in as the 43rd Army Surgeon General. LTG Horoho has held every level of leadership in Army Medicine to include positions as Deputy Surgeon General; Chief of the U.S. Army Nurse Corps; Commander, Western Regional Medical Command; Commander, Madigan Army Medical Center; Commander, Walter Reed Health Care System and Commander, DeWitt Health Care Network. She served as Special Assistant to the Commander, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command, Afghanistan.
Dr. Inge Guen is a clinical psychologist and leader of the Creative Arts Program of the Services to the Armed Forces unit of the American Red Cross at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, where she works with the wounded warriors as they recover from their injuries, physical and mental, and prepare for a very challenging future. Dr. Guen is a member of the American Red Cross – National Capital Region Tiffany Circle Society of Women Leaders.
CNN anchor and chief Washington correspondent Jake Tapper joined the network in January 2013. His one-hour weekday program, The Lead with Jake Tapper, debuted in March 2013. The program seeks to examine and advance stories that demonstrate Tapper’s own curiosities and interests with headlines from around the country and the globe, from politics to money, and sports to popular culture. Tapper has been a widely-respected reporter in the nation’s capital for more than 14 years. ABC7/WJLA-TV News reporter and WASHINGTON BUSINESS REPORT anchor Rebecca Cooper has been based in Washington for the last three decades, covering the world of politics, national security and finance from the White House, Capitol Hill and the major federal agencies. She is the recipient of several journalism awards, including the Peabody, DuPont, Murrow, Cable Ace and Emmy awards. Rebecca returned to public service, during her tenure as Chief of Staff to the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Bill Richardson. Rebecca serves on the Greater Washington Area Advisory Board for Childhelp, one of the nation’s leading nonprofits dedicated to the treatment and prevention of child abuse. She has been part of the American Red Cross Partners in Preparedness program.
J.R. Clark focuses his practice on public finance. He has extensive experience as bond counsel and underwriters’ counsel on a variety of tax exempt and taxable borrowings including revenue bonds for the benefit of 501(c)(3) organizations and corporations operating in enterprise zones, governmental obligations structured as tax increment financings, certificates of participation and payments in lieu of taxes. He also represents his clients’ interests before legislative and other governmental bodies. He was named part of the Legal Elite for 2009 by the readership of Washington SmartCEO.
Donna Cooper is the primary executive responsible for engaging stakeholder relations with state and local officials, community leaders, and business, consumer and nonprofit organizations within the Pepco region. In that capacity, she plays a critical role in shaping policy and managing issues to deliver value to customers and key stakeholders. She has been with Pepco for more than five years. For the past three years, she has served as region vice president, District of Columbia, responsible for managing relationships with the District of Columbia government, business organizations and community leaders; developing and implementing strategies for legislative and regulatory policy and testifying before the Council of the District of Columbia.

Standing at 6’5”, bass Kenneth Kellogg has been praised for his “commanding stage presence” and “vocal prowess.” He is an alum of the Domingo-Cafritz Emerging Artist Program. With Washington National Opera, his roles include Lord Rochefort in Donizetti’s Anna Bolenna and Leporello in Mozart’s Don Giovanni with the Emerging Artist cast.
