The American Red Cross coin banks are replicas of vintage trucks and vans that played a role in the Red Cross history of service. The "Ertl Collectibles" trucks and vans are made from highly detailed die-cast metal. They have durable glossy body paint, gleaming chrome trim, and real rubber tires. The coin drop is in the roof of the vehicle, and a door with a key under the vehicle allows for easy removal of the coins. The replica banks are certified limited-edition collectors' items. The Ertl Company will not reissue these coin banks nor allow anyone else to reproduce them. Recommended for ages 8 and over.
"1932 Ford Panel Truck" Bank The year 1932 marked the bottom of the Great Depression and a revolutionary introduction in automotive history: Ford's new V-8 engine was available at a price the "Common Man" could afford--about $10 more than the four-cylinder model. It was also the year of the Panel Delivery, a deluxe Tudor sedan converted into a delivery truck. The vehicle was available with a V-8 engine but most often had four cylinders. The truck offered excellent cargo space and easy access through the wide rear door. It proved to be popular with small retailers such as grocers and butchers who still offered home delivery.
"Walk-In Van" Bank Grumman Olson, a unit of Grumman Allied Division, is this country's largest producer of aluminum walk-in truck bodies. These trucks use the chassis of other manufacturers. This type of vehicle was used for delivering a variety of things from snacks to laundry.
