The American Red Cross and M&M Art Ltd. are proud to offer museum quality prints commemorating the contributions of the American Red Cross in times of war.
The first war-related mission of the American Red Cross occurred in 1898, when the tiny organization responded to the country's need for assistance for the men who went off to fight in the Spanish-American War. By the time World War II ended in September 1945, nearly every family in America had a member who had served as a Red Cross volunteer, made contributions of money or blood, or received Red Cross services. Red Cross workers also served with distinction during the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the more recent Persian Gulf War, enduring the oftentimes harsh conditions that accompany conflict. Nikolai Ziolkin, Eugenie Gradova, and Michael Nikiporenko have been selected to depict the indomitable spirit of those who have served under the Red Cross emblem.
A print will be made of a specially selected work from this series annually. For a full description and to see an enlargment of current prints available please select from the list below. As more prints are completed they will be added to the list.

"Break in the Action..."
This is the second in a series by world-renowned pastelist Michael Nikiporenko, depicting the American Red Cross in action during World War II. The selfless dedication that was the hallmark of the tens of thousands of American women that served as nurses during the war is the subject of this beautiful work of art commemorating their service. Artist Michael Nikiporenko has beautifully captured a pair of nurses in action in the field somewhere in the European Theater of War. Thousands of these brave women earned the title "Angels of Mercy" many times over--and not just in World War II. In the scene "Break in the Action...," the red cross bravely stands out, representing a haven of stability and assistance. The art richly represents the spirit of the many services provided by the paid and volunteer staff of the American Red Cross in every war from the Spanish American War until now.
The Red Cross organization is proud of its contributions to America's men and women in uniform and will always be ready to help those who serve during times of war as well as peace.

"Roses for the Red Cross..."
The "Roses for the Red Cross..." is a poignant scene in which a grateful family member's letter has arrived at a Red Cross chapter expressing heartfelt gratitude for some service provided by a Red Cross member or chapter to the family. We can only speculate what type of service was rendered. Was it during war? Could it have been some sort of disaster relief assistance? Could it have been the saving of a life from the timely contribution of blood after an accident? We will never know why this letter was sent. It is enough to know that the American Red Cross is a charitable organization that stands ready around the clock to render assistance to Americans in a time of crisis and has been doing so for more than 100 years. The American Red Cross is able to carry out its missions of mercy thanks to the dedication of its paid and volunteer staff. This beautiful work of art is intended to honor the countless thousands that served in the American Red Cross without fanfare or recognition.
