Immediately following the tragedies of September 11, 2001, 57,206 Red Cross paid and volunteer staff from across the country mobilized to provide disaster relief. Shown here are selected children’s works from the 9/11 collection of the American Red Cross. This collection contains thousands of artifacts and archival items ranging from cards made by children to photography by Red Cross staff and others to signs and safety goggles handed out to relief workers.

Click on the series above to see children's illustrated notes of encouragement that poured into the American Red Cross by the thousands in the weeks following September 11, 2001.
