| Career Highlights: |
| Donald J. Gordon has provided leadership in Health and Safety Services
delivery on the local and international levels for 15 years. He’s been an
instructor, volunteer medical director, board of directors member, chapter chair,
chair of the Advisory Council on First Aid and Safety (ACFAS) and ACFAS
delegate to the European Working Group on First Aid Education.
In late 1998, the American Red Cross formed this last group, ACFAS, to
advise the Red Cross in areas related to the development and dissemination of
audience-appropriate information and training in fi rst aid and safety. Donald
served as the chair of this independent panel of nationally recognized health
and safety experts from its inception until 2005. Drawing on a body of collective
expertise from such diverse fi elds as emergency medicine, occupational health,
sports medicine, school health and EMS response, the council sets the standard
in fi rst aid care. In the seven years it has existed, it has signifi cantly strengthened
the position of our organization as the leader in this fi eld with other educators
and with the American public.
During his long association with the Red Cross, Donald has consistently
demonstrated his commitment to saving lives one-by-one and to improving
the quality of life in communities nationwide. Th rough his leadership and
expertise, he has helped improve American Red Cross Health and Safety
Services training. People have learned better ways to save lives strengthening
communities and imparting hope and confi dence along with practical skills. |
