| Career Highlights: |
| Along with serving at blood drives and as an office volunteer, Miriam Nichols also remembers coming to the Red Cross office in uniform during WWII to wrap bandages for the soldiers overseas. Miriam became a Gray Lady following a stroke and has continued to serve in that capacity for many years. "If I can make just one person smile I have had a good day," Miriam said.
Gray Lady service has changed through the years. "We used to wear a full dress and a hat and could do more for the patients than we can do now," Miriam said. "Its important to take time with people. A little sunshine goes a long way.
Miriams most rewarding times are when patients reach out their hands and say, "Im going home."
Miriam is in her 72nd year of service to Red Cross. |
