Brenau University | Southern Blood Services Region
At Brenau University, Kelley is on the tennis team and recently received the Champions of Character award at the national NAIA tennis tournament. Kelley is majoring in Health Science with a concentration in physical therapy. After growing up in a small town in Georgia, she finds strength in her community and wants to give back to others. When she’s not playing tennis, she enjoys volunteering at a local physical therapy clinic so she can personally witness the recovery process.
Marygrove College | Southeastern Michigan Blood Services Region
Tico is from Michigan, where his parents made a home for themselves after migrating from Macedonia. He has been playing soccer since the age of four and earned a spot on the men’s soccer team at Marygrove College. Tico is majoring in science with a minor in chemistry. After graduating from Marygrove, he hopes to attend optometry school and one day become an optometrist. Tico works hard to achieve success on and off the field, which is all part of his parents’ desire to live the American dream.
University of Pikeville | Greater Alleghenies Blood Services Region
Kayla is majoring in Psychology and hopes to one day obtain a Master’s degree in Sports Psychology. She is a guard on the University of Pikeville women’s basketball team. Kayla was drawn to the close-knit community at the University of Pikeville where she serves as a peer tutor and is involved with the student athlete advisory committee. Despite a very busy schedule, Kayla was recently named to the Dean’s List. She is passionate about volunteering and enjoys traveling and concerts in her spare time.
Missouri Baptist University | Missouri-Illinois Blood Services Region
Jerica is a member of the Missouri Baptist University dance team. She is majoring in Public Relations with an emphasis in community relations and philanthropy. After graduation, Jerica hopes to work with a sports organization in the community relations department. She has been very involved on campus by founding a Greek organization, anchoring the school news station and serving as a student government representative.
Calumet College of St. Joseph | Indiana-Ohio Blood Services Region
Nicole is majoring in Life Science Pre-Professional and has aspiration to continue her education in medical school to one day become a nurse practitioner. Nicole is the oldest of four children and knows the importance of being a role model. If that was not enough, she is the captain of the volleyball team at Calumet College of St. Joseph and coaches a summer volleyball team.
Faulkner University | Alabama Central Gulf Coast Blood Services Region
Haylie was named after her mother and is from Fort Myers, Florida. Upon her high school graduation, she hopped across state lines into Alabama for college. She is attending Faulkner University as a Legal Studies major. Haylie makes sure that soccer is always part of her life, whether it’s volunteering at soccer camps or playing for her school. Haylie also serves as a board member and organizer at Alva’s Angels, a non-profit organization that helps young children in the community.
Wiley College | Southwest Blood Services Region
Ja’keisha is a member of the cheerleading team at Wiley College. For her upbeat personality, her peers noted her as Miss Sophomore. She majors in Criminal Justice, which she will help her career goal of working for Homeland Security. A Texan through and through, she likes to do things big and to do them right. Ja’Keisha also was selected to participate in Wiley College’s Student Leadership Program and served as President of her freshmen dormitory.
Lourdes University | Western Lake Erie Blood Services Region
Megan is majoring in business administration and marketing at Lourdes University. She is currently a member of the university’s softball team and cross country team. She is a captain of the women’s softball team and was part of the team when they earned Champion of Character. When Megan witnessed firsthand what the Red Cross does when a tornado ripped through her hometown, she knew what she wanted to do with her life – help others around the world. Megan volunteers with the campus orientation team and is a member of Lourdes for Life, which raises money for student scholarships.
Goshen College | Indiana-Ohio Blood Services Region
When Bryan began his education at Goshen College, he quickly formed a passion for American Sign Language. He is now majoring in American Sign Language Interpretation. Bryan is a member on the Goshen College baseball team. He is also a statistician for five sports teams. Before attending Goshen, Bryan interned at Walt Disney World and with that experience, realized he had confidence to become a leader. Bryan also enjoys hosting a music radio show on campus in his spare time.
Oklahoma City University | Southwest Blood Services Region
At Oklahoma City University, Kaitlin is the captain of the women’s cross country and track team. She is a double major: finance and economics. Kaitlin volunteers at her church, local food banks and the Oklahoma County Boys and Girls Club. Currently, she is involved in the Student Government Association, Alpha Phi Fraternity and several other campus clubs. After graduation, she hopes to further her education in graduate school and eventually work in the finance department of a company.
Judson University | Heart of America Blood Services Region
Madalyn started her relationship with the Red Cross as a student in one of the babysitting courses. It was there that she discovered her love of teaching. Now she attends Judson University, majoring in Elementary Education with a focus in English as a Second Language and Middle School. She loves being around people and helping them. Among many leadership roles, she is a tutor, member of Habitat for Humanity, volunteered at the YMCA, and serves as a resident assistant.
Auburn University at Montgomery | Alabama Central Gulf Coast Blood Services Region
As a child, Zach was diagnosed with cancer and received many blood transfusions. He is thankful for the generous donations of individuals because without them he would not have survived. Today, he is majoring in Exercise Science at Auburn University at Montgomery. Zach is an active member of the men’s cross country team and setting many records for himself. He is the top finisher for the men’s team. Zach is involved in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, an active member of First Baptist Church Montgomery, and also an active member of the Baptist Campus Ministries.
Concordia University-Nebraska | Midwest Blood Services Region
Julia is majoring in biology at Concordia University-Nebraska and minoring in chemistry and Spanish. She has aspirations to do missionary work and teach individuals in third world countries how to continue medical practices in a healthy and sanitary way. Julia is a member of the softball team at Concordia and bestowed Honorable mention for All-Nebraska softball. She has been volunteering and active in her community since the age of five.
