55th Annual American Red Cross Hall of Fame is April 26


Tomorrow, the American Red Cross, along with corporate sponsors and other members of the community, will honor nine area residents, whose actions or service embody the core humanitarian values of the Red Cross.

2013 Red Cross Hall of Fame Awards Honorees:

  • Blake and Victoria (Tori) Lyons, New Palestine –two young sisters who immediately alerted first responders and helped a neighbor who was on fire
  • Tom, Deb, Heather and Nikki Pahl, Trafalgar – a father, mother and their two daughters, who worked together to comfort and free a young man from his truck and treat his injuries after he had crashed down a ravine
  • Joe Wylie, Muncie – a PolyOne Corporation (formerly Spartech) employee who utilized the Red Cross training he received on the job to save a co-worker/friend’s life
  • Gracie Bennett and Maeci Young, Danville – two friends who built upon their own experiences with cancer to give back to other children dealing with life-threatening illnesses
  • The honorees were chosen by the Awards Selection Committee from among nominations submitted by the public. Members of the committee include: Paula Bosler, FedEx; Sherri Bossung, Eli Lilly and Company Foundation; Cindy Leffler, Indianapolis Power & Light Company; Katy McShane, City Securities Corporation; Paul Montgomery, WRTV6; Media Oakes, CNO Financial Group; Danny Overly, Professional Police Officers Credit Union; Kitty Radcliff, Walker; and Michael Twyman, Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust.

    The awards luncheon will be held at the Conrad Indianapolis, 50 W. Washington St. on Friday, April 26 at 12:00 Noon. This is the 55th year for the event. 2013 also marks the 10th year that CNO Financial Group has been the presenting sponsor and the eighth year that Scott Sander of WISH-TV has been the emcee. The awards ceremony will consist of videotaped segments featuring each of the honorees and the actions or service for which they are being recognized, as well as the presentation of their Hall of Fame awards and lapel pin.
