American Red Cross Jersey Coast Chapter and the Jersey Shore Convention and Visitor’s Bureau receive donation from Asbury Park Press
Asbury Park Press was honored at Big Wave Awards Ceremony then awarded the two organizations with a generous donation of $50,000 each.
A prestigious award by the Jersey Shore Convention and visitors Bureau was presented to Asbury Park Press Wednesday night for the newspapers' efforts assisting the community after Superstorm Sandy. Asbury Park Press President and Publisher, Thomas M. Donovan turned the tables and handed two organizations $100,000 for their work in the Jersey Shore's recovery. The Press was one of the honorees at the Jersey Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau Fourth Annual Big Waves Awards Ceremony. The newspaper received the award for raising money from the sale of two books and donating the proceeds to organizations that are assisting in recovery. American Red Cross Jersey Coast Chapter and the Jersey Shore Convention and Visitor's Bureau were each awarded $50,000. More than 31,000 copies of the books were sold, and the Press donated the profits to the Jersey Shore Convention and Visitor's Bureau and American Red Cross Jersey Coast Chapte r. The Press previously gave $40,000 to each of the organizations back in in April too. that brings the total of proceeds from the book sales donated back to the community for recovery to $180,000.
