Bill Hough is the publisher of the Enterprise Newspapers. Since 1929, when Hough's grandparents, George and Clara Hough, purchased The Falmouth Enterprise newspaper, the family has been involved in educating and bringing relevant information to the communities of Cape Cod. Today, more than 80 years later, the Enterprise is one of only two locally and independently owned newspaper companies left on Cape Cod, with the Chronicle in Chatham being the other one.
Over the last 30 years, the family has begun four additional community newspapers on Cape Cod: The Mashpee Enterprise, The Bourne Enterprise, The Sandwich Enterprise, and most recently, in February 2009, The Barnstable Enterprise.
The Enterprise Community Fund is a $170,000 annual fundraiser for the Falmouth Service Center, one of the largest food pantries on Cape Cod. The community fund is among the many ways Mr. Hough’s Enterprise newspapers give back to the Cape Cod community.
The company is proud to serve the Upper and Mid Cape communities and to work with the Red Cross to bring critical information to its readers. Among the weekly features in the newspaper is the Region section, which has a special column devoted to activities and consumer information from the Cape Cod and Islands Red Cross. The column is highlighted by the famous Red Cross symbol of the organization.
The public is invited to join the American Red Cross, Cape and Islands Chapter and the Cape & Islands United Way on March 30th to honor Bill Hough as a Community Educator Hero, along with many other heroes from Cape Cod at the 10th Annual Heroes Breakfast. Tickets for the Breakfast are available via redcross.org/ma/hyannis, uwcapecod.org or by calling (508) 775-1540 ext. 21.
