Carey Family Receiving Red Cross Help After Fire

A Carey family has a safe place to stay, clean clothes and food for meals after a fire in their home, thanks to the American Red Cross of Wyandot County. The family of three, two adults and one teen were driven from their Township Highway 20 home early Tuesday morning.

Red Cross Disaster Action Team volunteers Jennifer Garza, Debbie Sampson and Mark Sigler responded to the call for help. Along with food, shelter and clothing the Red Cross also provided assistance for winter coats and gloves and comfort kits of personal hygiene items. The team members also provided canteen services for first responders on the scene.

The Red Cross continues to provide help as needed and will aid the family with their recovery planning by providing resources, referrals and information.

All Red Cross disaster relief is provided free of charge, thanks to the generosity of the American people. If you’d like to make a donation to the American Red Cross, visit redcross.org/hancock, text “REDCROSS” to 90999 to make a $10 donation or call (419) 294-1935.
