The Heart of Carolina Region of the American Red Cross is proud to welcome Jeff McPherson as the community chapter executive for the Northwest North Carolina and Surry County Chapters.
“I look forward to working with the volunteers, boards and staff of both chapters as we continue the great work of the American Red Cross and providing support for those in need. It is a privilege to be part of an organization where the mission is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.” Jeff’s first day with Red Cross is on Monday, April 1, 2013.
McPherson succeeds Hugh Quinn, who retired in November 2012. Jeff lives in Rural Hall and is a graduate of Appalachian State University. His background includes time in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors. Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer of the YWCA in Winston-Salem. Prior to that, he spent thirteen years with American Heart Association. He is also a graduate of the 2012 Class of Leadership Winston-Salem.
About the American Red Cross:
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation's blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
