Miami, May 7, 2013 - The American Red Cross South Florida Region honored William Bullard of Diageo Latin America & Caribbean with the 2013 Humanitarian of the Year Award during a dinner on May 2nd at the Four Seasons Hotel Miami.
Bill Bullard has been instrumental in the development and growth of Learning for Life, an education and life skills program created and launched by Diageo Latin America & Caribbean in 2008.
“I’m honored and humbled by this recognition,” said Bullard. “Learning for Life transforms lives by offering individuals an opportunity to gain employment and become active contributors to their communities. We’re so proud that more than 80,000 lives have been impacted by more than 59 programs in 30 countries throughout Latin America and the Caribbean."
In June 2012, Diageo partnered with Florida International University’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management and launched a unique program, the first initiative in the United States modeled after the successes achieved in Latin America and the Caribbean. The effort between Diageo and FIU offers job readiness training, certifications, and internship opportunities to the unemployed and underemployed populations in South Florida, and seeks to specifically include war veterans and their families.
