Disaster Preparedness Workshops in November
The Disaster Preparedness Workshops are designed to increase awareness and preparedness planning for our community, partners, and volunteers.
Business Preparedness Workshop– Businesses can do much to prepare for the impact of the many hazards they face in today’s world including natural hazards like floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes and widespread serious illness such as the H1N1 flu virus pandemic. This workshop will provide information on making your business ready and resilient in the face of disaster.
Faith-Based Organizations Workshop – Our faith-based partners must be ready to assist the communities they serve in the event of a catastrophic event. Churches should be prepared with emergency plans in place to stay afloat. Putting a disaster plan in motion will improve the likelihood that your community will recovery from a disaster.
Personal Preparedness Workshop – Get prepared for disasters by learning about local emergency plans, how to identify hazards, and how to develop and maintain emergency preparedness plans. Participants will learn how to make a disaster supplies kit, make a preparedness plan, and respond to disasters.
Partner Agency Workshop – The Partner Agency Workshop course is designed to share information with partner agency shelter workers that will result in providing quality service to clients at Red Cross disaster shelters. This workshop provides pre-incident training and orientation materials to partner agency shelter teams.
Certified Adult CPR – The purpose of the CPR Workshop is to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac and breathing emergencies. The courses in this program teach skills that participants need to know to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. This course combines lecture, demonstration, video with hands-on training and practice along with the guidance of a trained instructor.
Certified First Aid – The purpose of the First Aid workshop is to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to first aid emergencies. The courses in this program teach skills that participants need to know to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.
