RED CROSS VOLUNTEERS HEADING TO SCENE OF DUXBURY, VT FIRE
Multiple Departments Respond to Residential Property
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE … (Duxbury, VT – March 23, 2013) - American Red Cross disaster services volunteers will join multiple responding fire departments to assist at the scene of a residential fire at a 3-story home on Marshall Road in Duxbury, VT. The volunteers will meet with the impacted family and lend support to the first responders.
Traditionally, temporary lodging and financial support to replace food and clothing lost in the blaze are offered to families and individuals displaced from their homes by fire. Additionally, referrals are made to state, local and charitable resources in the area that will help the family further along their difficult road to recovery. With regard to the fire departments and other first responders on scene, food and beverage are offered and serve as rehabilitative support.
March is American Red Cross Month and a time to honor the work of everyday heroes like the volunteers who have headed out to Duxbury to provide comfort, support and relief in the wake of this disaster. The Red Cross works very hard to ensure that all of our volunteers have the training, supplies and financial resources needed to support the people of our region. Equally important are our efforts to continually recruit new volunteers to support our existing corps. Anyone interested in learning more about the Red Cross volunteer experience is urged to go to www.redcross.org/vt-volunteer or to call locally at 802-660-9130.
