LOS ANGELES (April 12, 2016) — The American Red Cross is holding its annual Giving Day on April 21, a one-day event designed to rally the public to support the Red Cross in meeting its critical and lifesaving mission of helping families who have been affected by disaster or emergencies. This year’s Giving Day theme is #help1family in an effort to demonstrate how donations can rebuild the lives of families who have lost so much in the wake of a disaster.
In support of Giving Day, Los Angeles-based Evite has activated a new feature named Evite Donations™ which is powered by Pledgeling and allows Evite users to pledge their event to the American Red Cross and #help1family.

In 2015, across the country, the Red Cross provided more than 34,000 overnight shelter stays to people forced from their homes because of disasters, served more than 1.1 million meals and snacks and distributed more than 800,000 relief items in 2015.
