FLOWOOD, Miss., (Jan. 27, 2015)—Plans are underway now for an exciting 2015 Red Cross Gala presented by BlueCross BlueShield of Mississippi and benefiting the humanitarian mission of the American Red Cross of Southwest Mississippi. On Saturday, March 21, THE place to be and be seen is the Country Club of Jackson, 345 Saint Andrews Drive in Jackson. The VIP Reception begins at 6 p.m.; Gala festivities are from 7-11 p.m.

“This event is an ideal way to support the Red Cross of Southwest Mississippi while enjoying an exciting evening of scrumptious food, music, dancing and live and silent auctions,” said Gala co-chair Pam Reeves.

The award-winning Mo Money Band will provide the music and entertainment and there will be a special guest appearance by Miss Mississippi 2014, Jasmine Murray.

Over the years, the Red Cross of Southwest Mississippi has responded to Hurricane Isaac and a multitude of floods and tornadoes right here at home. This past year the need for relief is no different. Whether it’s helping a family recover from a house fire, providing assistance to military members and veterans, training individuals in CPR/First Aid, teaching businesses to prepare for disaster, or feeding and sheltering hundreds of residents after a disaster like the 2014 Mississippi Spring Tornadoes, Red Cross is able to provide essential services thanks to support from community partners and individual donors.

“This is our opportunity to thank those who have supported us through the years and who continue to be dedicated to helping fulfill our Red Cross mission,” said Sandra Hodge, regional chief executive officer Mississippi Region and Southwest Mississippi.

Special recognitions at the Gala include Jim Sheble, vice president and general manager of Nucor Steel of Jackson who will receive the 2015 Humanitarian of the Year Award, and First Lady Deborah Bryant who will be recognized for her efforts during the 2014 Mississippi Tornadoes.

Co-emcees for the evening are Tamica Smith-Jeuitt, communications specialist with the Mississippi Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church and television host of WLBT’s Law Call; and Jeff Good, President of Mangia Bene Restaurant Management Group, and owner/operator of Jackson’s BRAVO! Italian Restaurant & Bar, Broad Street Baking Company, and Sal and Mookie’s.

“We hope you are making plans to join us for this special evening of celebration and recognition at the 2015 Red Cross Gala,” said Hodge.
